KINGMAN – The Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team seized over 47 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop and arrested four Uber passengers on their way from Barstow, California to Kingman.

MAGNET participated in a multi-agency drug interdiction detail on Interstate 40 last Thursday night, the Bullhead City Police Department confirmed. During the traffic stop, 47.6 pounds of marijuana was located in two large bags in the trunk of the Uber car. A hand gun was also located in the vehicle. The Uber driver did not know the marijuana was in his car and was not arrested.

Four suspects (Ramon Antonio Lara Payano, 29, Lino Derek Valez, 27, Edgardo Xavier Nuenez, 30 and Roger Mauricio Franco, 21) were arrested for trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and misconduct involving weapons.

They were all booked into the Mohave County jail in Kingman.

Franco is a Honduras national who will be deported. He has a $50,000 bond with an immigration hold.

MAGNET conducted an interdiction detail on Interstate 40 with the Bullhead City Police Department, Kingman Police Department, Lake Havasu City Police Department, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Agency, La Paz County Sheriff’s Office, Arizona Department of Transportation enforcement, United States Border Patrol and the Mohave County Sheriff’s Posse.

During this detail 78 stops were made resulting in 23 arrests, 10 citations, 44 warnings, eight immigration violations, 35 searches, 74 pounds of marijuana seized, two weapons seized, two human trafficking arrests, and over $12,000.
