KINGMAN – It’s never too late to celebrate and honor the mothers in our lives.

Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center is hosting a Mother’s Day tea party and fashion show.

“We try to have it around Mother’s Day in honor of our mothers, for families and the community,” said Debera Daugherty, executive director.

Tea parties started at the adult center back when a few board members decided they wanted to have tea parties and celebrations throughout the year.

The center hosts tea parties for various celebrations, like Christmas and fall season.

The tea party is serving a variety of sandwiches, including country ham, egg salad, strawberry and cream cheese. A creamy, orange fruit salad and dessert will accompany the sandwiches and hot tea. Iced tea or coffee is available upon request.

Participants will see fashion choices from BonWorth, America’s favorite mother-daughter store. Daugherty said there will be different spring fashions ranging from casual to dressy.

“They all seem to be well attended and look forward to by people in the community to get dressed up and have a nice event,” she said.

Participants are encouraged to wear their spring bonnets and dress in semi-casual attire.

Tea will be served from 1-3 p.m. Friday, May 17 at the Kathryn Heidenreich Center, 1776 Airway Ave. Cost is $6 per person, which can be paid at the door or in advance. Attendees will be given a carnation provided by Heaven’s Scent Florist.
