BOULDER CITY – The National Park Service is accepting additional comments to address the low-water conditions at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, but time is running out.

The park extended the earlier public comment period that ended in December.

The plan would provide a long-term strategy for addressing operational needs to maintain lake access and provide safe and diverse recreational opportunities at lake elevations above 950 feet.

The plan will lead to decision making regarding the suitability, feasibility of the continued use of the marinas, launch ramps, other water-based visitor facilities and identify necessary steps for their continued operation.

Comments may be submitted electronically via the website, https://bit.ly/2I7mUVF. Written comments can be mailed to Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Compliance Office, 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City, NV 89005.

Comments must be submitted by Feb. 15.
